PTF-51-PRO/PoE/Micro v2 is a miniature surge arrester, designed to 100-BaseT LAN networks using 5th or 6th category UTP cables. It has a built-in cable with RJ-45 jack, which allows easy connection. Ideally suited for use with IP cameras in CCTV systems to protect them against surges, lightning, and the use of stun guns. Small dimensions allow installation in camera deep bases or small hermetic housings. It is recommended for protect LAN cables and devices with Ethernet installed outside buildings. The surge arrester individually protects each pair of data transmissions by eliminating internal surges above 3.5V. Also discharges high surge impulses of up to 2kA to the ground for cable each conductor of the cable (12kA totally).
Version 2 has been designed from scratch with protective circuits and housing, to increase the level of surge protection and improve mechanical properties.
Specially designed solutions protect Switches and LAN devices against surges in PoE power supply circuits. This applies to all cables and most PoE standards. Lines 4-5 and 7-8 are connected to each other because LAN 100Base-T uses them only to supply PoE.
The device does not provide continuation of the FTP cable shield. If such functionality is required, it is necessary to use the standard product series PTF-51 or PTF-51/DIN.
The surge arrester in the PRO version is designed for installations where any the LAN devices or a part of the cable are located outside the building. Such an installation is exposed to receiving high-value surge currents by flashing from other wires or metal structures. However, it is not recommended if the LAN device is mounted on a metal structure (pole, metal building, etc.). We recommend the EXT surger arrester for such installations.
To ensure an adequate level of protection, it is necessary to connect the surge arrester to a local ground. You can also use a PE protective line. Do not connect the PTF-51 to the lightning conductor circuits and create a grounding point near the grounding of the lightning conductor circuit.
