Due to the diverse electrical characteristics of circuits used in industrial automation, effective protection requires the use of dedicated SPD limiters. The new SUG series includes many different products, whose names determine their intended use. Depending on the model, they differ in many voltage, current, and transmission parameters for fast electrical transients. The products are divided not only based on the type of signals they support, but also based on the type of housing. To ensure the highest level of protection, modern solutions in the form of MOSFET fuses have been used, which limit the flow of large surge currents through the limiter, resulting in increased durability and significant reduction of the surge voltage reaching the protected device. An additional advantage of this solution is the limitation of equalizing currents, which can protect RS-485 interfaces from potential jumps that can lead to overcurrent.
