Surge protector designed to protect a single LAN line from the effects of surges and lightning strikes. It is compatible with Ethernet networks of 10Base-T and 100Base-T standards, used in connections with PCs, CCTV system cameras, industrial and building automation devices, as well as other consumer devices. It features direct grounding of large surge currents individually from each conductor of the cable, without the often-used intermediary elements that weaken surge resistance and have a significant impact on emitting or absorbing electromagnetic interference.

Three levels of protection in the data line using MOSFET technology effectively protect sensitive circuits of network interfaces and introduce an additional separating buffer in case of large potentials between the LAN switch and individual endpoints. Additionally, MOSFET technology reduces the potential level that reaches the protected device (Voltage protection level UP) during a surge to a value that is only slightly higher than the rated operating voltage (Un).

Built-in PoE power protection circuits eliminate voltage spikes between transmission pairs 1,2 - 3,6 and pairs 4,5 - 7,8, which in 100Mbit networks are used solely for PoE power supply. They have been grouped to simplify the protection circuit, treating one pair as one circuit line. The PoE protection circuits safeguard LAN endpoint devices from damage due to surges caused by lightning strikes or uncontrolled voltage increases, for example, due to a failure of the PoE power supply. The solutions used are completely neutral to any PoE standard and protect each of them, including Hi PoE.

PTF-51-EXT/PoE/DIN is intended for installation near LAN endpoint devices such as: PCs, PLC controllers, IPC cameras, radio transmitters, Internet of Things devices. It is equipped with a metal housing with a DIN rail mount, through which the surge current is grounded. Proper grounding using a PE line is necessary for correct operation, preferably with the shortest possible dedicated grounding point. The diameter of the grounding wire must take into account the surge currents discharged from all protectors mounted on the same DIN rail.
It is essential to follow the directional operation of the protective function described in the user manual and not to reverse the connections of the device in the LAN installation, as this may cause improper operation or even damage.

PTF-51-EXT/PoE/DIN ensures the continuity of the shielding of FTP cables between the input and output and additionally grounds the charge that appears between the shield and the ground. Since it is recommended to ground the shield of the FTP cable only from one side, the shield on the protector side is galvanically isolated at a level of 90VDC during normal operation.

Surge protector for HikVision cameras

To protect a single LAN line, two 1-channel protectors can be used, installed at both ends of the cable and properly grounded. In the case of needing to protect multiple LAN circuits, it is recommended to use a multi-channel limiter on the LAN switch side and single-channel ones on the endpoint devices side.

Surge protection for CCTV installations

If a protector from the EXT series is used on the side of external IP cameras, a multi-channel protector of at least the PRO series should be used on the LAN switch side; otherwise, the protection of the LAN switch will be insufficient.

Standard patch panels with LSA (Krone) connectors should not be used between protective devices of the EXT series, as their surge resistance is very low and they will be damaged during strong surge currents. If there is a need to use a connection patch panel, it must be based on Keystone connectors.

Product tested according to categories D1, C2, C1, B2. It is intended for use at the boundaries of LPZ0/LPZ1 zones or higher.
