1-channel surge protector from the Professional series, LAN 100Mbit network protection, designed for 100Base-T installations, PTF-51-PRO/PoE/T with heat-shrinkable cover.

The LAN surge protection with increased impact resistance is designed to protect devices operating in a LAN network, including IP cameras, PC computers, LAN switches, industrial automation controllers, and buildings. Compatible with Ethernet 10Base-T and 100Base-T networks, using category 5, 5e, 6, and 6a cabling. Each data transmission and PoE power line is protected against surges up to 2.5kA with direct discharge to ground. High-quality printed circuits with tuned differential pairs ensure excellent transmission parameters and contribute to the elimination of crosstalk, which can cause unstable LAN network operation.

The product is intended for installations where at least one of the end devices in the LAN network is located inside a building or is otherwise exposed to high-value surges. Two protective stages with decoupling function effectively eliminate surges relative to ground and those occurring within transmission pairs.

Special connection layout protects devices from surges, also from voltage increase on PoE power lines in any possible standards (also transmitted on transmission lines). Lines 4-5 and 7-8 are connected because LAN Base-100T uses them exclusively for PoE power. The limiter protects both power supply groups from voltage increase above 58V and damage to end devices such as switches or IP cameras. The PoE power transmitted by the limiter can reach a maximum of 60W (compatibility with HiPoE).

PTF-51-PRO/PoE/T ensures continuity of the FTP cable screen between the input and output, and additionally discharges the charge between the screen and ground. Since it is recommended to ground the FTP cable screen only on one side, the screen on the protector side is galvanically isolated at 90VDC during normal operation.

To secure one LAN track, you can use two 1-channel protectors, installed at both ends of the cable and properly grounded. If multiple LAN circuits need to be protected, it is recommended to use a multi-channel protector on the LAN switch side and single-channel protectors on the end devices side.

 

Video Monitoring Surge Protection

If PRO series protectors are used on the external IP cameras side, a multi-channel protector of at least PRO series must be used on the LAN switch side, otherwise the protection of the LAN switch will be insufficient.

If PRO series protectors are connected to a LAN patch panel, it must be based on Keystone connectors. Standard patch panels with LSA (Krone) sockets have too low impact resistance of printed circuits and may be damaged.
