SUG-7-DIN/IO24, surge arrester for 24V DC inputs and outputs, dedicated to industrial automation

SUG-7-DIN/IO24 is a high-quality surge protector, protecting industrial automation elements from damages caused by atmospheric discharges and various types of surges. It eliminates and directs large electrical charges (up to 10kA) to the ground, also eliminating potentials between individual conductors of transmission lines (inside the wires).

It is dedicated to protecting digital inputs and/or outputs as well as the power supply of industrial automation sensors, where the current consumption does not exceed 300mA.

The surge protector is mounted on a typical DIN rail of 35mm. Sliding locks placed on both sides facilitate the installation of SUG-7 in any position. High-quality clamping terminals with a high current load limit the risk of damage during large impulse shocks. The device occupies the width of one module of the DIN standard.

The surge protector uses an innovative solution in the form of a super-fast MOSFET fuse, which additionally protects digital inputs or outputs from current shocks due to potential differences between individual devices and overload due to short circuits or overloads. Protection against potentials is implemented through MOSFET automatic fuses with very low hysteresis, which disconnect the input circuit from the output one in 1µs after exceeding the nominal current by just 0.5mA above the standard. After the threat subsides, the connection is restored in 1µs.

When using long cables, it is recommended to connect surge protectors at both ends of the cable, which increases the reaction speed and the level of protection. SUG-7-DIN should be grounded using an individually made grounding point or via the PE line - however, attention should be paid to ensure that the path for discharging the charge to the ground is as short as possible.
