PTU-516R-PRO/PoE is a 16-channel patch panel designed to ending LAN cables in 19" RACK cabinets. It has been integrated with a surge arrester that eliminates surge currents up to 2kA per conductor of LAN cable(14kA total). It protects of LAN devices placed outdoor or subjected to surge flashover from other installations. The electronic circuits ensures compatibility with Ethernet 100Base-T networks, used with PCs, industrial automation and building control systems, and with IP-CCTV system. The surge arrester protects against high surge currents and the increase of voltages inside the transmission pairs, which may be the result of induction of the electromagnetic pulse during the lightning surges.

Built-in PoE power surge circuits against power surges due to overvoltage or damage to the power supply, both on transmission pairs as well as on 4.5 and 7.8 pairs and is compatible with every PoE standard with a power of up to 60W.

Patch panel consists of four PTU-54-PRO/PoE modules, mounted in a 19" RACK panel with the possibility of easy replacement. The 5xx series products are newly designed modules that have better transmission and load parameters relative to previous series, which ensures a more stable operation and lower crosstalks.

Patch panel is suitable for use with cabling UTP, FTP of 5, 5e, 6th category or higher, but due to the internal connection system a higher transmission speed than 100Mbit will not be obtained. In the 100Base-T Ethernet network, the 4.5 and 7.8 lines are used only to supply PoE and for simplifying the protection circuits they have been grouped. It does not change the parameters of network but during tests using LAN meters, short-circuits will be reported on these lines which is a normal effect. Patch panel PTU-516R-PRO/PoE is not suitable for cabling, which are subject to certification for 5e, 6th category or higher - in this case, use a patch panel dedicated to this category (necessarily with Keystone modules) and surge arrester device model PTF-516R-PRO/PoE.

On the unprotected side (input), LSA connectors (Krone) and clamps for shielded cables were used, and on the protected side (exit) RJ-45 sockets were used to connect LAN devices. Optional cover protects against dust and accidental damage to the modules and special holes in the base for mounting the panel also on the wall.

When used for CCTV installations together with NVR recorders, the panel can be mounted on angle brackets at the rear of the RACK cabinet. The benefits of this solution are: More space in the cabinet, convenient access to all connections, shorter patch cords - NVR recorders usually have all connectors at the back.

The optional LK-MOUNT angle brackets are used to attach the panel at a 45-degree angle to the rear rail of the RACK, which is advantageous when using NVR recorders in CCTV installations.

The best protection efficiency is achieved by using surge arresters at the two ends of the LAN cable and their proper earthing. Typically, on the LAN switch side, this multi-channel product is used and on the end of the terminal devices 1-channel surge arresters are used. In order to balance the surge protection level of the entire LAN cable, on the other side of the cable, use a series PRO or EXT series surge arresters.
