PTU-58R-PRO/PoE is an 8-channel patch panel designed to terminate LAN cables in 19" RACK cabinets. It has been integrated with a surge arrestor, eliminating surge currents up to 2kA per conductor wire (14kA total), which is important for protection of devices placed outside buildings or subjected to flashover from other installations. The electronic circuits ensures compatibility with Ethernet 100Base-T networks, used with PCs, industrial automation systems and home automation, and in particular with IP-CCTV system. Circuits of the surge arrestor eliminates potentials in relation to the ground and against the increase of voltages inside the transmission pairs - which may be the result of induction of the electromagnetic pulse during the lightning discharge.
Built-in PoE power surge protection circuit protects against power surges due to overvoltage or damage to the power supply, both on transmission pairs as well as on 4.5 and 7.8 pairs and is compatible with every PoE standard with a power of up to 60W.
The patch panel consists of two PTU-54-PRO/PoE modules placed in a 19" RACK housing and can be easily expanded to 16 channels using PTU or PTF series modules. The 5xx series are newly designed modules that have better data transmission and load parameters than the previous series. They ensures more stable operation and less signal crosstalk.
Patch panel PTU-58 is suitable for use with UTP, FTP of 5, 5e, 6th category or higher cabling, but due to the internal connections, a higher transmission speed than 100Mbit will not be obtained. In the 100Base-T Ethernet, the 4.5 and 7.8 lines are used only to supply PoE and for simplifying the protection system they have been grouped. This solution does not change the parameters of network, but when measuring test by LAN Network testers, short-circuits will be reported on these lines - this is a normal effect. Patch panel PTU-58R-PRO/PoE is not suitable for LAN networks, which are subject to certification for 5e, 6th category or higher - in this case, use a patch panel dedicated to this cabling category (necessarily with Keystone modules) and and additional PTF-58R-PRO/PoE surge arrester.
On the unprotected side (input), LSA connectors (Krone) and clamps for shielded cables were used, and on the protected side (exit) RJ-45 socket were used to connect LAN devices. The optional cover protects the electronics against dirt and accidental damage. Special holes in the base for mounting the panel on the wall and the tabs and holes for the cable ties allow for secure fixing of the wires.
When used for CCTV installations together with network recorders, the panel can be mounted on angle brackets at the rear of the rack. The benefits of this solution are: More space in the Rack cabinet, convenient access to all connections, shorter patch cords - network recorders usually have all connectors at the rear.
The optional LK-MOUNT angle brackets are used to attach the panel at a 45-degree angle to the back rail of the rack, which is advantageous when using NVR recorders in CCTV installations.
The best protection efficiency is achieved by using surge arrestors at the two ends of the LAN cable and their proper earthing. Typically, on the LAN switch side, this multi-channel surge arrestor is used and on the LAN-end devices 1-channel surge arrestors are used. In order to balance the strength for high currents of the entire LAN line, on the other side of the cable, use a surge arrestor the PRO or EXT series.
