PROFESSIONAL series LAN surge protector, 8 ports with IEEE802.3at PoE active injector function, designed for 100Mbit LAN networks and for cameras and IP-CCTV systems, mounted in a 19" RACK cabinet, PTF-516R-PRO/InPoE/A.
16-channel surge protector designed to protect 100Mbit LAN networks, PC computers, industrial and building automation systems, and IP CCTV surveillance devices. It protects data transmission lines and allows for PoE power injection up to 30W/channel in active mode - with a negotiation procedure. It is recommended for protecting wireless bridges, LAN switches, automation controllers and lighting systems, mounted on building facades, located inside or outside buildings. High impact resistance of up to 2.5kA for each LAN cable with direct discharge to ground prevents electronic damage caused by induced high energy in the cables or spark jumps from other installations.
By increasing the supply voltage to 56V, power above 30W per channel can be transmitted. The built-in PSE negotiation circuit automatically controls the power supply process, monitors the power consumption, and detects faults related to overload, short circuit, or wiring errors. This ensures complete safety of power transmission in the same way as in LAN switches.
The product consists of four PTF-54-PRO/InPoE/A modules, mounted in a PTU/PTF-5-RACK housing.
PoE transmission takes place over transmission pairs 1-2, 3-6, according to the IEEE standard: 802.3af, option A. Pairs 4-5 and -7-8 are completely disabled for use inside the device, but are protected against surges. Built-in PoE power protection protects against power surges or damage to the power supply powering the modules.
PTF-516R-PRO/InPoE/A can be used with a LAN switch that does not have any PoE ports or can be used to increase the number of PoE ports in a LAN switch. It can also be used to improve the balance of the entire system by relieving PoE from selected ports of the LAN switch. To power each module and panel, a power supply with a voltage of 48-56VDC and a recommended output of 2A should be used to prevent the power supply from shutting down when the automatic fuse is activated.
The panel is equipped with RJ-45 sockets on the protected side and on the unprotected side. This facilitates adaptation to existing systems and speeds up the process of connection and servicing. The optional cover PTU/PTF-5/6-COVER protects against dust and accidental damage to modules, and special holes in the base allow the panel to be mounted on the wall as well. Signal cables can be mechanically protected from being pulled out using cable ties, using holes or protrusions on the back of the panel.
In the case of using the panel for CCTV installations with IP video recorders, it can be mounted on corner brackets at the back of the Rack cabinet. The benefits of this solution include more space in the cabinet, convenient access to all connections, and shorter patch cords - IP video recorders usually have all connectors at the back.
Full effectiveness of surge protection is achieved by using surge protectors at both ends of the LAN cable and proper grounding. Usually, a multi-channel surge protector is used on the LAN switch side, and a single-channel one on the end devices side. In order to balance the impact resistance of the entire LAN line, a surge protector no lower than the PRO or EXT series should be used on the other end of the cable.
Surge protectors PRO series should not be connected to popular patch panels using LSA (Krone) connectors due to the low impact strength of their printed circuits. The best solution is to use cables terminated with the simplest RJ-45 plugs.
The product has been tested according to categories D1, C2, C1, B2. It is intended for use at the boundaries of LPZ0/LPZ1 zones or higher.
