In today's post, we will answer another issue: PTF-51-EXT / PoE / Micro - how and where should the miniature EXT series surge arrester be installed?
What is its use?
PTF-51-EXT / PoE / Micro is a miniature surge arrester, dedicated to 10Base-T and 100Base-T LAN. Its small dimensions and the cable with RJ-45 plug enable quick and easy installation and allows for hiding the device in small housings. Ideally suited for the protection of IP CCTV cameras, which use medium-sized junction boxes.
Where will it work best?
It is recommended for the protection of LAN devices mounted on poles, jibs or metal structures. Thanks to the use of MOSFET Technology, it effectively eliminates overvoltages inside transmission lines and is less susceptible to damage as a result of long-lasting surge currents. Thanks to its quick response to the exceeded series current, it is an excellent protection solution against the equalizing currents generated during the discharge between the individual earthing points of the structure. It is important in the case of CCTV installations, where many end devices are installed on poles or in an industrial environment. A special connection arrangement protects the devices against voltage surges on PoE power lines in each of the possible standards (also transmitted on transmission lines). Unfortunately, the device does not provide screen continuity for the FTP cable, so if such continuity is required, it is necessary to use other devices from our offer.
What should you remember about?
To ensure an adequate level of protection, it is necessary to connect the arrester to the ground or, in its absence, to the PE conductor. The earthing point of the limiter must not be connected to the lightning protection circuits and the protection device must not be earthed near the lightning protection circuit earthing point.
