Design mistakes in the installations

18-04-2024

One of the basic mistakes in designing a telecommunication installation is the failure to use surge protectors on signal lines. This applies to both devices in security systems and other network interfaces.

Often, such mistakes occur due to low awareness and lack of mutual consultations when creating lightning protection and telecommunication projects. There is still a widespread belief that using surge protectors on electrical lines is sufficient protection against all types of surges. Unfortunately, we often encounter the opinion that a lightning protection system is enough to ensure full protection for both the building and the devices inside it.

Therefore, we would like to remind you that in order to ensure effective protection, it is necessary to determine where the vulnerable devices are located and what factors threaten them. This is precisely defined in the PN-EN 62305 standard, which specifies the basics of lightning protection, the concept of lightning protection zones (LPZ), and risk analysis. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with this document and remain at your disposal for any questions.
