8-channel protection for Gigabit Ethernet networks, based on category 5, 5e, 6, and 6a cables. It is built from two PTU-64-EXT modules, mounted in a PTU/PTF-6-RACK enclosure. It is designed for installation in a 19" Rack cabinet on the front rail for standard use or on the rear rail using LK-MOUNT angled brackets, in case of application for IP-CCTV recorders - many IP recorders have a built-in switch with connectors at the back.
The RJ-45 sockets at the front (DEVICE) represent the surge-protected side, to which the ports of the Gigabit Ethernet LAN switches are connected using patch cords. The rear LSA connectors represent the unprotected side (LINE), to which long lines of LAN infrastructure are connected, without the use of RJ-45 connectors. This solution creates two devices in one: a patch panel for terminating transmission lines and effective surge protection. It simplifies installation and reduces the number of additional components, resulting in cost savings. To ensure the continuation of the FTP cable shielding, shielded patch cords should be used, and metal clamps should be employed, which are equipped on the electronic boards.
The PTU-64 series modules are high-quality surge protection and transmission devices. The use of multilayer PCB boards and modern components in MOSFET technology has resulted in compliance with the category 6 cabling standard and correct testing for frequencies of 4 x 250MHz.
The components used in MOSFET technology significantly reduce the level of voltage protection (Up) to a value slightly higher than the rated operating voltage (Un). The voltage pulse reaching the protected device during a surge or discharge is even several times lower than in the case of a standard solution without the use of MOSFET technology. The risk of insulation breakdown of isolating transformers in network cards, due to potential differences between locally grounded or locally powered LAN devices, is also reduced.
The independent PoE protection circuit protects against voltage spikes between pairs 1,2 - 3,6 and 4,5 - 7,8. This protects the power supplies of LAN end devices from damage due to surges caused by lightning strikes or uncontrolled voltage increases, for example, at the moment of a PoE power supply failure. The solutions used protect all types of PoE power and allow power transmission in the Hi PoE standard.
The protection panel has additional space for mounting 2 modules from the PTF-64 or PTU-64 series, allowing for expansion at any time, up to a maximum of 16 channels. Proper grounding of the LAN protection should be ensured by connecting the included wire to a properly grounded Rack cabinet. The optional PTU/PTF-5/6-COVER provides protection for the circuits and connectors of the protection against dust, and also serves as additional protection against interference when there are many panels.
The best level of protection is achieved by using protection on both sides of the cables: multi-channel on the LAN switch side and single on the end device side, for example, PTF-61-EXT/PoE.
Product tested according to categories D1, C2, C1, B2. It is intended for use at the boundaries of LPZ0/LPZ1 zones or higher.
