4-channel PTU-54-PRO module, designed for building multi-channel surge protection systems for LAN networks. Thanks to the use of LSA (Krone) connectors on the unprotected side, it has dual functionality: a patch panel for terminating LAN cables + a surge protector with increased impact resistance for each wire of the cable. Direct discharge of large loads to the ground without intermediary elements (looping through transformers or coupling through diode circuits) ensures total protection at the level of 2.5kA per wire.

It has better transmission and durability parameters for long-term current overloads compared to earlier models. Tuned printed circuits and higher quality RJ-45 sockets provide lower crosstalk and attenuation of transmission lines, and new solutions and components ensure proper handling and protection of PoE power up to 60W (HiPoE).

Based on the PTU-54-PRO/PoE modules, surge protection systems for 10Mbit or 100Mbit LAN networks can be built, which serve to protect, among others, computers, switches, PLC controllers, IP-CCTV industrial television systems, and other devices installed outside buildings.

Additional equipment includes circuits that protect devices powered by passive or active PoE lines, where damage may occur due to induced surge currents during lightning strikes, but also due to damage to the PoE power supply. The PTU-54 series modules work with PoE power in many IEEE standards, including: 802.3af, 802.3at, and 802.3bt - type 3 (HiPoE, UPOE).

It is compatible with Ethernet networks 10Base-T and 100Base-TX and can be used with category 5, 5e, 6, and 6a cabling - thanks to the use of shielded sockets, it ensures full continuity of the shielding of FTP cables. Since in such networks pairs 4,5 and 7,8 are used exclusively for PoE power, they have been grouped, therefore the module cannot be an element participating in the measurement of parameters of category 5e, 6, or higher cabling. For installations requiring measurements involving protectors, PTU-64 products are recommended.

The module can be mounted in metal enclosures PTU/PTF-5-MBOX/DIN, PTU/PTF-5-MBOX (1 piece) and in panels PTU/PTF-5-RACK (up to 4 pieces), creating multi-channel protective systems or, by using different modules, systems with varied purposes and protection levels.

All modules in the PTU-54 series have grounding through the mounting screws of the Rack enclosure, so any expansion or replacement of the module is very easy and does not require additional actions. The connection of the entire device to the ground is made using the included wire, attached to a common grounding point.
