The surge arrester is designed to protect burglary alarm panels against surges and lightning discharges. It has 4 protective channels for alarm detector signals and 4 independent power protection channels with separation. It is designed for use with detectors installed outside the building, where high-value spark jumps from metal structures, gutters or wires may appear. In addition to the danger to the alarm paths themselves, there is also a risk of damage to the control panel and connected devices as a result of a strong voltage increase in the power cables. This risk is eliminated by separating feeder protection by super-fast, automatically reset MOSFETs.

The product is made in the form of a module, mounted in a dedicated metal housing together with other modules that can create a comprehensive protection system for all control panel signals. The components used eliminate 10kA surge charges for each alarm and power supply circuit, using super fast MOSFET fuses, which prevents voltage impulses above 18V from getting on the protected side. This creates an effective protective barrier for any type of alarm system, without affecting even 4-state alarm circuits. The standard of the endangered and protected side terminals has been maintained in accordance with the standard of connection in alarm control panels, which ensures ease of installation and subsequent servicing.

The product cannot be used for addressable detectors, for this purpose a different model of protective device should be used.

The APS-4Zo/4P also has MOSFET fuses, separating the power supply of each alarm detector. This protects against neutralization of a group of detectors by shorting one of them. The fuses used have a very low current hysteresis and a response time of 1µs, which does not cause significant current consumption from the control panel even for a long period of short circuit. This solution also i preffered for Grade 4 alarm installations.
