The surge protector is designed to protect the central units of alarm systems from surges and lightning strikes. It has 4 protective circuits intended for alarm sensor signals and 4 independent protective circuits for power supply with separation. It is dedicated for use with sensors installed outside the building, where high-value spark jumps may occur from metal structures, gutters, or wires. In addition to the threat to the alarm circuits themselves, there is also a risk of damage to the control panel and connected devices due to a strong voltage spike in the power supply wires. This risk is eliminated by separating the protection of the power supply circuits using super-fast, automatically resetting MOSFET fuses.
The product is made in the form of a module, mounted in a dedicated housing along with other modules that can create a comprehensive protective system for all signals of the alarm control panel.
The components used eliminate surge currents of 10kA for each alarm and power circuit, utilizing super-fast MOSFET fuses, which prevents voltage impulses above 18V from reaching the protected side. This creates an effective protective barrier for any type of alarm system, while not affecting even 4-state alarm circuits. The standard of terminals for the threatened side and the protected side has been maintained according to the standard for connecting in alarm control panels, ensuring ease of installation and later servicing.
The product cannot be used for digital (bus) lines; another model of protective device should be used for this purpose.
APS-4Zo/4P also has MOSFET fuses, separating the power supply of each alarm sensor. This protects against neutralizing a group of sensors by short-circuiting one of them. The fuses used have very low current hysteresis and a response time of 1µs, which does not cause significant current draw from the control panel even during a long period of short-circuit occurrence.
