Patch panel with surge protection for Gigabit Ethernet, 16 channels

16-channel surge protector and patch panel for Gigabit Ethernet networks, compatible with category 5, 5e, 6, and 6a cabling. It is built from four PTU-64-ECO modules, mounted in a PTU/PTF-6-RACK enclosure. In standard LAN networks, it is mounted on the front rail of the Rack cabinet to allow easy cross-connection of connections with other LAN devices. When used for NVR recorders in IP-CCTV systems, it can be mounted on the rear rail behind the recorders using LK-MOUNT angled brackets. This solution is more ergonomic, as NVR recorders typically have RJ-45 connectors at the back.

The RJ-45 sockets on the front of the surge protector (DEVICE) represent the surge-protected side, to which Gigabit Ethernet LAN switch ports are connected via patch cords. The rear LSA connectors represent the unprotected side (LINE), to which long LAN infrastructure lines are directly connected. This solution creates two devices in one: a patch panel for the termination of transmission lines and surge protection. It simplifies installation and reduces the number of additional components, resulting in lower costs. To ensure continuity of the FTP cable shield, shielded patch cords should be used, and metal clamps should be employed, which are equipped on the PTU-64 electronic boards.

The PTU-64 series modules are modern solutions with very high surge protection efficiency and high transmission quality. The use of multilayer PCB boards and modern components has resulted in compliance with category 6 cabling standards and correct testing for frequencies of 4 x 125MHz.

The independent PoE protection path protects against voltage spikes between pairs 1,2 - 3,6 and 4,5 - 7,8. It reduces the risk of damage to the power supplies of LAN end devices due to surges, lightning strikes, or uncontrolled voltage increases, for example, at the moment of a PoE power supply failure. The surge protector protects all types of PoE power and allows power transmission also in the Hi PoE standard.

To achieve full surge protection, proper grounding of the surge protector must be ensured by connecting the grounding wire to a properly grounded Rack cabinet. The optional PTU/PTF-5/6-COVER provides protection for the circuits and connectors of the surge protection against dust, and also serves as additional protection against absorbing external interference.

The best level of protection is achieved by using surge protectors on both sides of the cables: a multi-channel surge protector on the LAN switch side and a single one on the end device side, for example, PTF-61-ECO/PoE.

The product is intended for LAN installations, entirely located inside buildings and not exposed to spark jumps from other unprotected installations.
