Option 2: Advanced joystick correction for converters 3th generation

Advanced joystick correction, additional option for PTZ converters 3th generation

The Advanced Joystick Correction feature is an additional option for protocol converters 3th series, activated by a license code. It introduces additional functionality of the joystick tilt curve correction, individually for each camera with a distinction between vertical and horizontal movement.

The availability of this option depends on the type of converter and the current firmware. The presence of the option is displayed when the configuration is read by Ewimar Firmware Upgrader / Configurator. If this option is not on the list, please contact the manufacturer to obtain the firmware update.

PTZ keyboards and cameras are manufactured by many manufacturers and only some of them have a linear characteristic, making the speed of camera movement dependent on the level of joystick deflection. Non-linear characteristics can occur in both cameras and their keyboards, and this may be due to many factors, such as the type of joystick, joystick length, ergonomics, etc.

When connecting devices from different manufacturers, the characteristics curves of the camera and the joystick may cancel out or add, which causes adverse effects during control in the form of too slow or too fast camera response to the joystick deflection. These symptoms may also differ significantly for horizontal and vertical movement.

The above diagrams show the unfavorable effect of overlapping similar movement curves in the camera and keyboard, so the output characteristics have a very large deviation - This causes difficult to control, very fast camera movement with a small movement of the joystick. Equalization of the characteristic or its intentional deformation is carried out by selecting the appropriate curve. The option has at its disposal 6 correction curves (positive and negative), individually selected for the vertical and horizontal movement of each supported camera.

An offset of +/- 15 is also defined for each selected characteristic that shifts the entire characteristic up or down. This allows you to even more fine-tune the movement.
