Ethernet surge protector module ECO series, PTU-54-ECO/PoE

PTU-54-ECO module, device with dual functionality, integrating the protective function and patch-panel termination of the LAN cable. The new series has improved transmission and durability parameters for long-term currents. Tuned differential pairs and better quality RJ-45 sockets ensure less crosstalk and damping of transmission lines, and new protective solutions and components allow correct operation and protection of PoE circuits up to 60W (HiPoE).

PTU-54-ECO/PoE is designed for the construction of multi-channel surge protection systems for 10Mbit or 100Mbit LAN used with computers, switches, PLC controllers, CCTV systems and other devices installed inside buildings.

On the unprotected side, it is equipped with LSA connectors (Krone), which increases the strength of the connection itself and does not require the use of additional LAN terminal patch panels. Metal clamps are used to attach the shield of FTP cables, which are earthed through them (connection to the PE line). Protected side has high quality RJ-45 sockets, where patch cords for switches or other LAN devices are connected.

The module has a 100A protection levelfor each conductor of the LAN cable with direct discharge of the load to the ground. An additional equipment are circuits protecting the connected devices against the increase of PoE supply, which may be the result of induced surge currents during the discharge, but also as a result of damage to the PoE power supply. The PTU-54 series modules cooperate with PoE power supply in standards with IEEE: 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt - type 3 (HiPoE, UPOE).

It is compatible with Ethernet 10Base-T and 100Base-TX standards and can be used with 5, 5e and 6th category cabling, and thanks to the use of shielded sockets, it ensures full continuation of the FTP cable shield. Due to internally connected 4.5 and 7.8 pairs which in the mentioned standards are only used for PoE supply, the module can not be an element taking part in the measurement of cabling parameters 5e or 6th category.

The module is adapted for mounting in PTU/PTF-5-RACK housings (up to 4 pcs), creating uniform multi-channel protection systems or by using different modules, systems with different purpose and protective level.

All modules of the PTU-54 series have earthing implemented by mounting screws of the rack base panel, therefore the possible expansion or replacement of the module is very easy and does not require additional activities. The connection of the entire device to the earth is made with the help of an attached cable, fixed to the common earthing point of the housing.
