Miniature Surge Protector for LAN Network Protection, PTF-51-EXT/PoE/Micro/T with Heat-Shrink Cover

PTF-51-EXT/PoE/Micro/T v2 is a miniature surge protector from the EXTREME series, dedicated to 100-BaseT LAN networks based on UTP 5 or 6 category cables. Its small size and built-in RJ45 plug allow for easy connection and hiding of the device in small enclosures. It is ideal for protecting IP industrial cameras equipped with original bases that hide accessories and all connections. The protector protects against the effects of surges and atmospheric discharges, as well as acts of vandalism (such as stun gun attacks). The device individually protects each transmission pair, eliminating surges above 3.5V inside them and discharging charges up to 2.5kA from each wire to the ground.

Version 2 has been designed from scratch, including the wiring and enclosure, in order to increase the level of surge protection and improve mechanical properties. The modified protection circuit introduces additional protection for the limiter against damage caused by spark jumps from poles and metal structures.

It is recommended for protecting LAN devices mounted on metal poles, arms or structures. Thanks to the MOSFET technology, the PTF-51-EXT protection is three times more effective in eliminating surges inside transmission lines and is less susceptible to damage from prolonged surge currents. With its super-fast response to overcurrent, it is an excellent protective solution against equalizing currents that occur during discharges between individual grounding points of metal structures. This is important in CCTV installations, where many end devices are installed on poles or in industrial environments.

A special connection system protects devices from voltage spikes on PoE power lines in all possible standards (including those transmitted on transmission lines). Lines 4-5 and 7-8 are connected together, as LAN 100Base-T uses them exclusively for PoE power. The protection safeguards both power line groups from voltage spikes above 58V and damage to end device power supplies, such as switches or IP cameras.

It is recommended for protecting end devices installed outside buildings (walls, attics), where the induced charge value can be high.

The device does not provide screen continuity for the FTP cable, if such continuity is required, it is necessary to use standard PTF-51 or PTF-51/DIN devices.

To ensure the appropriate level of protection, it is necessary to connect the protection to the ground or, in the absence of it, to the protective PE cable. It is not allowed to connect the grounding of the limiter to lightning protection circuits or to create a grounding point for the limiter near the grounding of the lightning protection circuit.

The product is tested according to categories D1, C2, C1, B2. It is intended for use at the boundaries of LPZ0/LPZ1 zones or higher.
