The PTU-516R-ECO is a 16-channel patch panel with LSA (IDC) connectors, designed to end LAN cables in 19" RACK cabinets. It is integrated with an ECO series surge protection, which is sufficient to protect LAN devices and cables installed indoors and not subject to surges with high pulse currents from other installations or devices - this applies to devices and installations not protected against lightning discharges. It is compatible with 100Mbit LAN networks, used to connect PCs, industrial automation, and IP-CCTV system. Provides surge protection of data transmission and PoE up to 60W of devices installed inside buildings. It have efficiency up to 100A in 8/20uS waveform with discharge to the ground, which is sufficient in most applications inside buildings, where the main cause of damage may be the induction of an electromagnetic pulse in the LAN cable.

Patch panel consists of four PTU-54-ECO/PoE modules, mounted in a 19" RACK panel. The 5xx series are newly designed products that have better transmission and surge protection level relative to earlier series. It ensures stable operation, less crosstalk and allows power high power devices using the PoE standard.

The surge protecton panel can be used with UTP, FTP for cabling 5, 5e, 6th category or higher. In 100Mbit (100Base-T) LAN, lines 4,5 and 7,8 are used only to PoE and for simplifying the protection in PTU series they have been grouped. This solution does not change the parameters of networks, however during tests the LAN using meters, the short circuits will be reported on these lines - this is a normal effect. Patch panel PTU-58R-ECO/PoE is not suitable for certified LAN networks of 5e, 6th category or higher - in this case, use a patch panel dedicated to this category and a PTF-516R-ECO/ PoE device to protect the LAN. Built-in PoE protection protects PoE line against surges or damage to the power supply, both on transmission pairs as well as on 4.5 and 7.8 pairs.

On the unprotected side (input), LSA connectors (Krone) and clamps for shielded cables were used, and on the protected side (output) RJ-45 sockets were used to connect LAN devices. Optional cover protects against dust and accidental damage to the modules. LAN cables can be mechanically secured against being pulled out with the clamps, using holes or tabs at the back of the panel.

When used for CCTV installations together with Network recorders or servers, the panel can be mounted on angle brackets at the back of the rack. The benefits of this solution are: more space in the closet, convenient access to all connections, shorter patch cords - NVR recorders usually have all connectors at the rear.

The best protection efficiency is achieved by using surge protection ounted on both ends of the LAN cable and proper earthing. Typically, multi-channel protection is used on the LAN switch side and 1-channel surge protector at LAN-end devices.
