PTU-516R-EXT/PoE is a 16-channel patch panel designed for installation in LAN 100Mbit networks, suitable for mounting in 19" RACK cabinets. It is equipped with the latest surge protection system using MOSFET technology, eliminating surge currents up to 2.5kA per wire.

It is intended for use in IP CCTV industrial television installations, in industrial, energy, or railway environments, where individual LAN devices are installed on metal structures, near emergency power supplies, or elsewhere where there is a risk of high voltages between grounding points. MOSFET technology introduces an additional separation buffer with very low hysteresis and a reaction time of just 1μs, which prevents the flow of ground currents, and also significantly reduces the surge voltage Up on the protected side - both features are not achievable with conventional solutions available on the market.

Surge protection eliminates potentials relative to ground and induced within individual pairs, additionally, extra circuits protect the power pairs of PoE. They protect the power supplies of LAN devices from power surges due to overvoltage or damage to the power supply, both on transmission pairs and on pairs 4,5 and 7,8, and are compatible with any PoE standard with a power of up to 60W.

The patch panel consists of four PTU-54-EXT/PoE modules mounted in the PTU/PTF-5-RACK housing. The 5xx series features newly designed modules with better transmission and load parameters compared to earlier series, ensuring more stable operation and lower signal crosstalk.

The product works with UTP, FTP cabling of category 5, 5e, 6 or higher, but due to the connection layout, transmission speeds above 100Mbit will not be achieved. In a 100Base-T Ethernet network, lines 4,5 and 7,8 are used solely for PoE power, and for the simplification of the protection circuit, they have been grouped, which does not change the operating parameters of these networks; however, when measuring the LAN network with meters, shorts will be reported on these lines, which is a normal effect. In such cases, a patch panel dedicated to the given category should be used for measurements, and as an additional protective device, a surge protector PTF-516R-EXT/PoE should be used.

On the unprotected side (input), LSA (Krone) connectors and clamps for shielded cables are used, while on the protected side (output), RJ-45 sockets are used to connect LAN devices. An optional cover protects against dust and accidental damage to the modules, and special holes in the base allow for panel mounting on the wall as well.

In the case of use for CCTV installations along with IP recorders, the panel can be mounted on corner brackets at the back of the Rack cabinet. The benefits of such a solution are: More space in the cabinet, convenient access to all connections, shorter patchcords - IP recorders usually have all connectors at the back.

Optional LK-MOUNT corner brackets are used to mount the panel at a 45-degree angle on the rear rail of the Rack cabinet, which is beneficial when using NVR recorders in CCTV installations.

The best protection efficiency is achieved by using surge protectors at both ends of the LAN cable and properly grounding them. Typically, a multi-channel device is used on the LAN switch side, while single-channel protectors are used on the end devices. To balance the surge withstand of the entire LAN line, a protector no lower than the PRO or EXT series should be used on the other side of the cable.

The product is tested according to categories D1, C2, C1, B2. It is intended for use at the boundaries of LPZ0/LPZ1 zones or higher.
