LAN surge protector with increased resistance for surge currents, is intended for surge protection of devices operating in LAN networks, including IP cameras, PC computers, LAN switches, home and industrial automation. Compatible with 10Base-T and 100Base-T Ethernet networks, using 5, 5e and 6th category cabling. Each wire of the data transmission and PoE power circuit is protected against impacts up to 2kA with direct discharge to the ground. High-quality printed circuits together with tuned differential pairs provide very good transmission parameters and contribute to the elimination of crosstalk that cause unstable LAN operation.

The protectoris designed for installations in which at least one of the LAN end devices is outside the building or is otherwise exposed to high surge currents. Two protection stages with decoupling functionality, effectively eliminating overvoltages to the ground and transmission pairs inside.

A special connection circuit also protects against overvoltage devices against voltage increase on PoE power lines in any of the possible standards (also transmitted on transmission lines). Lines 4-5 and 7-8 are interconnected because LAN Base-100T uses them only to power PoE. The surge protector protects both groups of PoE pairs against an increase in voltage above 58V and damage to the power supplies of terminal devices, such as switches or IP cameras. The power supply PoE transmitted through the protector can be up to 60W (compatible with HiPoE).

PTF-51-PRO/PoE ensures the continuity of the FTP cable shield between the input and output and additionally discharges the charge between shield and ground. Because it is recommended to ground the FTP cable shield only on one side, the shield on the protector side during normal operation is galvanically isolated at 90VDC.

To protect one LAN channel, you can use two 1-channel protectors mounted on the two ends of the LAN cable and ground them accordingly. In case of necessity of securing many LAN circuits, it is recommended to use multi-channel protectors on the side of the LAN switch and single-channel protector on the side LAN end devices.

 

Surge protection of video surveliance

If the PRO series protector is used on the side of the external IP cameras, a minimum PRO-series protector should be used on the LAN switch side, otherwise LAN switch protection will be insufficient.

If the surge protector of the PRO series will be connected with the LAN Patch Panel, the Patch Panel it must be based on Keystone type connectors. PCB circuits of standard Patch Panels with LSA (Krone) sockets have too little strength for high pulse currents and it can be damaged.
