Surge protection for LAN / Ethernet with increased strength for high surge pulses, mounted on a 35mm DIN rail. It is designed for surge protection of devices operating in LAN networks, including IP cameras, PC computers, LAN switches, industrial automation controllers and buildings. Compatible with 10Base-T and 100Base-T Ethernet networks, using 5, 5e and 6th category cabling. Each conductor of LAN cable and PoE power circuit is protected against impacts up to 2kA, with direct discharge to the ground. High-quality printed circuits together with tuned differential pairs provide very good transmission parameters and contribute to the elimination of crosstalks that cause unstable LAN operation.

The product has been designed for installations in which at least one of the LAN end devices is outside the building or is otherwise exposed to heavy loads. Two protection stages with decoupling functionality, effectively eliminating overvoltages to the ground and transmission pairs inside.

A special protections circuit also protects LAN devices against voltage increase on PoE power lines in any of the possible standards (also transmitted on transmission lines). Lines 4-5 and 7-8 are interconnected because LAN 100Base-T uses them only to power PoE. The PTF-51-PRO protects both groups of power pairs against an increase in voltage above 58V and damage to the power supplies of LAN devices, such as switches or IP cameras. The power supply PoE transmitted through the limiter can be up to 60W (compatible with HiPoE).

The PTF-51-PRO/PoE/DIN ensures the continuity of the FTP cable shield between the input and output and additionally discharges the charge between shield and ground. Because it is recommended to ground the FTP cable shield only on one side, the shield on the protector side during normal operation is galvanically isolated at 90VDC.

The surge protection is mounted and grounded by a 35mm DIN rail. Use an unpainted DIN rail with adequate grounding that is able to remove shock loads to the ground from all mounted surge protection devies.


Surge protection for Dahua CCTV cameras


To protect one LAN cable , you can use two 1-channel protection devices mounted on the two ends of the LAN cable and ground them accordingly. In case of necessity of protection many LAN circuits, it is recommended to use multi-channel protection device on the side of the LAN switch and single-channel protectors on the side of end LAN devices.

Surge protection for Surveillance CCTV

If the PRO series surge protection is used at the external IP cameras, a minimum PRO-series protector should be used on the LAN switch side, otherwise LAN switch protection will be insufficient.

The PRO series surge protection devices should be not used with standard LAN patch panels with LSA (Krone type) connectors, because their strenth for high currents is very low and they will be damaged during strong surges. We suggest to use patch-panel based on Keystone type connectors.
