PTF-54-PRO/InPoE/P surge protector module with a passive power injector is designed for building modular surge protection for 100Mbit LAN networks. It is compatible with Ethernet 10Base-T and 100Base-T networks. It is dedicated to protecting devices installed outside buildings.

The PTF-54-PRO/InPoE/P product is a 4-channel LAN protection module, dedicated to professional LAN networks. It is equipped with a passive PoE power injector, sending 15W of power to each port at a 48V power supply. By increasing the voltage to 56V, up to 20W of power can be transmitted on each port. The maximum power given is due to the simple PoE input (without negotiation circuit) and the 350mA automatic fuse. Passive transmission of power above 15W @ 48V is not recommended, as damage to the cable or errors in connections can cause damage to the LAN ports in end devices. For power transmission up to 30W/port, we recommend using the PTF-54-PRO/InPoE/A module, which includes an active PSE negotiation circuit.

The module is designed for building multi-channel surge protection systems for LAN networks with 10Mbit or 100Mbit, including protection for computers, switches, PLC controllers, industrial television systems, and other devices installed inside buildings that require PoE power supply.
It can be used with a LAN switch that does not have PoE ports or to increase the number of PoE ports in case of insufficient power or number of PoE ports in the LAN switch. To power each module, a power supply with a voltage of 48-56VDC and a recommended output of 2A should be used to prevent the power supply from shutting down when the automatic fuse is activated.

PoE transmission takes place on transmission lines 1-2, 3-6, similar to the IEEE standard: 802.3af, option A. Pairs 4-5 and 7-8 are completely disabled inside the module.

NOTE! The InPoE module can be connected to a PoE port on the switch, but does not transfer PoE power between the LINE and DEVICE sides.

The module has increased impact resistance at a level of 2.5kA per conductor, allowing for direct discharge of large shock loads directly to the ground, originating from induced impulses and spark jumps. Complementing this are circuits that protect devices powered by PoE pairs, where damage can occur due to induced shock currents during atmospheric discharge, as well as due to PoE power supply failure. An additional protective barrier against surges is provided by built-in isolating transformers on the LINE and DEVICE sides.

The product is compatible with Ethernet standards 10Base-T and 100Base-TX and can be used with category 5, 5e, 6, and 6a cabling - thanks to the use of shielded sockets, the connection between the LINE and DEVICE sides is not utilized.

The module can be mounted in plastic enclosures PTU/PTF-5-BOX or PTU/PTF-5-BOX/DIN (1 piece) as well as in PTU/PTF-5-RACK panels (up to 4 pieces), creating complete multi-channel protection systems or by using different modules, systems with different purposes and levels of protection.
Modules in Rack panels can be combined with others to achieve an optimal configuration for the required installation needs.

All modules from the PTF-54 series grounding point are implemented through the mounting screws of the Rack housing, so any expansion or replacement of the module is very easy and does not require additional actions. Connecting the entire device to the ground is done using the attached cable, attached to a common grounding point.

The protected and unprotected sides are equipped with RJ-45 sockets, so the modules can be connected to other patch panels, serving as terminations for LAN cables. However, standard patch panels with LSA (Krone) connectors and Keystone sockets should not be used, as their printed circuit board strength is very low and there is a risk of damage in case of a surge. It is best to terminate the cables with simple RJ-45 plugs.
