LAN surge protector extreme series, designed for CCTV, IP cameras, and LAN switches installed on metal contructions, PTF-51-EXT/PoE/Micro.

PTF-51-EXT/PoE/Micro v2 is a miniature surge protector, designed to 100Base-T Ethernet using 5th or 6th category UTP cables. By using MOSFET technology, the product has 3 times higher efficiency than traditional solutions. It has a built-in cable with RJ 45 jack, which allows easy and quick connection. Ideally suited for use with IP cameras in CCTV systems to protect against overvoltages, lightnings and the use of stun guns. Small dimensions allow installation in camera deep bases and small hermetic housings. It is recommended for protecting LAN switch and devices installed on metal constructions located outside buildings. The surge protector individually protects each pair of data transmissions by eliminating internal overvoltages above 3.5V. Also discharges high surge impulses of up to 2kA to the ground for cable each conductor of the cable (12kA totally).

Version 2 has been designed from scratch with protective circuits and housing, to increase the level of surge protection and improve mechanical properties.

Specially designed solutions protect Switches and LAN devices against surges in PoE power supply circuits. This applies to all cables and most PoE standards. Lines 4-5 and 7-8 are connected to each other because LAN 100Base-T uses them only to supply PoE.

The device does not provide continuation of the FTP cable shield. If such functionality is required, it is necessary to use the standard product series PTF-51 or PTF-51/DIN.

The EXT version surge protector is designed for installations where LAN devices are installed on metal constructions (poles, metal buildings, etc.). It is recommended for industrial, railway or power station. They are exposed not only to receive large surge currents but also voltage pulses between LAN devices (ground loop). The applied super-fast MOSFET fuses disconnect the protected device for a while, creating additional separation and accelerating the elimination of surge currents. The temporary disconnection of the protected device by the MOSFET fuse causes that it is exposed to 3 times less surge voltage than with a traditional solution.

To ensure an adequate level of protection, it is necessary to connect the surge protector to a local ground. You can also use a PE ground conductor. Do not connect the surge protector to the lightning conductor circuits and create a grounding point near the grounding of the lightning conductor circuit.
