PTF-58R-PRO/PoE is a surge arrester, dedicated to effectively protect 8 channels of 100Mbit LAN and connected devices installed outside of buildings. It is recommended for LAN radio bridges, CCTV cameras, automation and lighting controllers, mounted on the facades of buildings and other ungrounded structures. High strength for surge currents up to 2kA for each conductor of the LAN cable with direct discharge of the surge currents to the ground, prevents damage to electronics due to the induction of high energy in the conductors or during flashover from other installations.
The surge arrester consists of two PTF-54-PRO / PoE modules, mounted in a 19 "RACK housing and can be easily expanded to 16 channels using PTU or PTF series modules. The 5xx series is a completely new design with significantly better transmission parameters and the new design of the PoE circuit protects each of the available standards and allows for sending power up to 60W.
The housing together with the electronics form a complete protective panel, equipped with RJ-45 sockets on the protected side and unprotected side, which facilitates connection to existing installations and shortens the service process. The optional cover protects the electronics against dirt and accidental damage, and the tabs and holes for the cable ties allow for secure fixing of the wires.
The optional LK-MOUNT angle brackets are used to attach the panel at a 45-degree angle to the back rail of the rack, which is advantageous when using NVR recorders in CCTV installations.
The best protection efficiency is achieved by using surge arresters at the two ends of the LAN cable and their proper earthing. Typically at the LAN switch side, this multi-channel surge arrester is used and at the end LAN devices 1-channel surge arresters are used. In order to balance the strength for high currents of the entire LAN line, on the other side of the cable use a surge arrester PRO or EXT series.
PRO series surge arresters should not be combined with popular patch panels using LSA connectors (Krone) due to the low strength for surge currents of their printed circuits. As endings of LAN cables, use patch panels with Keystone type connectors and patch cords with thick conductors, preferably shielded 6th category.
