Module with dual functionality, designed to protect gigabit LAN networks from the effects of surges and lightning strikes. It is built on a multilayer PCB with carefully designed printed circuits, which, along with durable compact components and dedicated category 6 sockets, ensure excellent transmission quality and high impact resistance. Each wire of the cable is individually protected by a protective component with an impact resistance of 2.5kA (8/20µs), which, combined with uniform paths of very high thickness, results in a product with stable surge protection properties.

Low values of wave reflections, alien crosstalk, and attenuation for frequencies of 4 x 250Mhz, as well as the continuation of the screen connection of the cables, allowed the PTU-64-EXT module to be classified as compliant with category 6 standards, which is significant for large LAN networks 1000Base-T, 1000Base-Tx, and 10GBASE-T. Despite not utilizing the quality parameters of category 6 in the most popular 1000Base-T networks, the quality reserve of parameters is significant for the stability of their operation, as the amount of interfering signals increases proportionally to the number of accumulated LAN cables in the Rack cabinet.

The applied MOSFET technology drastically reduces the level of voltage protection (Up) to a value slightly higher than the rated operating voltage Un. This means that the voltage impulse reaching the protected device during a surge is even several times lower than in the case of a standard solution without the use of MOSFET technology. Additionally, at the moment of a surge, the risk of insulation breakdown of the isolating transformers in LAN network cards is reduced due to potential differences between individual LAN devices.

For devices powered via PoE, independent surge protection has been built in between pairs 1,2 - 3,6 and 4,5 - 7,8. This solution protects the power supplies of LAN devices from damage due to surges caused by lightning strikes or uncontrolled voltage increases, for example, due to a failure of the PoE power supply. The solutions used protect all types of PoE power and allow power to be transmitted in the Hi PoE standard.

On the protected side (Device), RJ-45 sockets are used, which allow for quick switching of wires; on the unprotected side, LSA (formerly Krone) connectors are used. This solution creates two devices in one: Effective surge protection + patch panel designed for direct mounting of LAN cables. Metal screw clamps create an electrical connection between the panel and the screen of the FTP cables and mechanically secure them, protecting against pulling out.

The PTU-64-EXT/PoE module is installed in a dedicated PTU/PTF-6-RACK base, which accommodates a maximum of 4 modules of different types. Ready-made uniform 8-channel and 16-channel devices with all modules of the same type are also available. The module can also be used in small installations and screwed to the wall after being mounted in the metal housing PTU/PTF-6-MBOX(DIN).

Product tested according to categories D1, C2, C1, B2. It is intended for use at the boundaries of zones LPZ0/LPZ1 or higher.
