The 16-channel surge protector designed to the 100Mbit LAN network is used to protect PCs, industrial automation, home automation as well as IP CCTV installation. It provides protection of data transmission lines and PoE supply of any type and power up to 60W for devices installed inside buildings. The effectiveness of protection is 100A in the 8/20uS waveform with the discharge of surges to the ground. This is sufficient in most installations placed inside buildings, where the main cause of damage may be the induction of an electromagnetic pulse during lightning discharge.

The protector consists of four PTF-54-ECO/PoE modules, placed in a 19" RACK panel. The 5xx series are newly designed surge protector that have better transmission quality relative to earlier models, which ensures stable operation, less crosstalk and new design allows power supply high power devices using the PoE standard.

The protection panel can be used with UTP, FTP of 5, 5e, 6th category or higher cabling. In 100Mbit (100Base-T) network, lines 4,5 and 7,8 are used only for PoE power supply and for simplifying the electronic circuit they have been grouped. Tests of 5e and 6 th category or higher installations should be performed with disconnected the PTF-516R-ECO/PoE protector. Built-in PoE protection protects against power surges due to surges or damage to the power supply, both on transmission pairs as well as on 4.5 and 7.8 pairs.

The panel is equipped with RJ-45 sockets on the protected side and on the unprotected side. This facilitates adaptation to already existing systems and speeds up the connection and servicing process. It can be connected to existing patch panels with LSA connectors (Krone) using RJ-45 patch cords. The optional top cover protects the panel against dirt and accidental damage to the modules. Special holes in the base allow the panel to be mounted also on the wall. LAN cables can be additionally secured against being pulled out with the use of clamps using openings or tabs at the back of the panel.

When used for CCTV installations together with NVR recorders, the panel can be mounted on angle brackets at the rear of the rack cabinet. The benefits of this solution are: More space in the cabined, convenient access to all connections, shorter patch cords - NVR recorders usually have all connectors at the back.

The best protection efficiency is achieved by using surge protector on both ends of the LAN cable and proper earthing. Typically, on the LAN switch side, this multi-channel protector is used and on the end-LAN devices 1-channel protectors.
